Plymouth Tri Club’s Saunders wins Dartington Duathlon

PLYMOUTH Tri Club were in dominant form at the Dartington Sprint Duathlon.

Fin Saunders won the event in one hour, three minutes and 14 seconds.

He clocked 18.49 minutes for the first run, then 33.38 minutes for the cycle and 10.03 for the second run.

On the opening leg he was pushed all the way by team-mate and Great Britain Youth champion Travis Bramley. The pair came in for the first transition together but Bramley had a mechanical problem with his bike and could not complete the event.

University of Exeter’s Jack Bristow took second in an overall time of 1:03.29, with Plymouth Tri Club’s Ken Holder third and first veteran home in 1:05.23.

Team-mate Neil Minion was first male super vet in 1:11.00.

Sharn Hooper was second senior female in 1:18.49.

There was also success for fellow Plymouth-based athletes Alex and Kelcey Pillage in the junior categories.

Alex Pillage won the junior male title in 1:06.57, while Kelcey Pillage, better known as a modern pentathlete, was second in the female event in 1:27.36.
