MANY of the region’s runners will have their first competitive outings of 2016 this weekend.

Sunday sees both the January Jaunt 10k at Marsh Mills and the fourth Frank Elford Sports Westward Cross Country League meet of the season at Westward Ho!.

The January Jaunt, which is hosted by the Plymouth Round Table, starts at 9am at the Plymouth Devils speedway track on Coypool Road.

Last year’s January Jaunt saw an impressive 329 finishes, with Torbay’s Peter Monaghan winning. Entries for that race are available HERE or on the day.

The Westward Cross Country League meeting starts at 12.15pm at Westward Ho! with the under-11s off first.

The second race at 12.30pm will be the senior and under-17 ladies and under-17 men.

The under-13 girls and boys will go off at 1pm and 1.20pm, respectively, before the senior and under-20 men take to the course at 1.40pm.

The final race will be the under-15 girls and boys event at 2.20pm.
