Old Techs issue open invite for New Year’s Day clash with St Boniface Old Boys

Shaun Bedford-SmithOLD TECHS have issued an open invite to any players or spectators who fancy a game of rugby on New Year’s Day.

The Weston Mill-based side are hosting their annual January 1 match against St Boniface Old Boys on Friday (2.30pm).

The fixture has been going for 30 years and follows on from St Boniface’s regular Boxing Day clash with Saltash.

“It is more of a social day than anything else – a get together,” said Old Techs’ Shaun Bedford-Smith (pictured).

“There’s an open invite to anyone who wants a game. We’ll be meeting in the upstairs bar at one o’clock and people just need to bring their boots.”

Devon Two promotion hopefuls Old Techs will return to league action next weekend (January 9) when they entertain Buckfastleigh at Weston Mill.

Old Techs go into 2016, sitting in fourth place in the table but they are just six points off leaders IIfracombe.

“We’re in a pretty good position,” said Bedford-Smith, who side will only leave Plymouth once – when they travel to Buckfastleigh on March 19 – in the second half of the season.
