THE Devon County Cross County Championships take place at Exeter Arena on Sunday.

Like with the Cornwall Championships last month, they will be incorporated into the Frank Elford Sports Westward Cross Country League.

The Westward League has already staged two legs at Plymouth’s Central Park and Newquay Sports Centre.

City of Plymouth AC’s Poppy Tank and Erme Valley Harriers’ Will Battershill both impressively triumphed in the men’s and women’s races at Newquay.

Sunday’s event gets underway at 12.15pm with the under-11 boys and girls. This category is a non-Devon County Championship event.

Fifteen minutes later the senior and under-17 women and under-17 men start. They will run 5,000m.

The under-13 girls will head off at 1pm, followed by the under-13 boys at 1.15pm.

The under-15 girls and boys’ race at 1.30pm and 1.50pm respectively before the senior and under-20 men bring the event to a close at 2.15pm with an 8,900m run.
