PLYMOUTH Raiders’ new coach Daryl Corletto is hoping his team can upset the odds on Friday evening when they entertain Leicester Riders at the Pavilions in the BBL Championship (7.30pm).
Leicester are unbeaten this season, while Raiders have yet to win this term and have lost their last 11 meetings against the Riders.
However, Corletto, who took over as head coach last week from Jay Marriott, hopes his first home match in charge could be the one to turnaround the city team’s season.
Corletto: “It’s another tough game and I guess the beauty of that is it is at our home court.
“We’re desperate to turn our season around and they are one of the top teams along with Newcastle, and last time we played Newcastle we pushed them to the edge last time.
“Leicester’s a great challenge but we’re getting better and we need to build on last week and hopefully take care of Leicester at home.”
Leicester have two former Raiders players in their squad in the form of Anthony Rowe and recent recruit Shane Walker, who was axed by Plymouth mid-way through the 2013/14 season.
Walker said: “I believe the Plymouth guys will play hard, and it should be a good game. I think they may play harder for this coach – a new coach always brings energy to a team.”
