Raiders look to kick-start their season against Bristol in BBL Cup

raidersPLYMOUTH Raiders will be hoping to use the BBL Cup to kick-start their season.

Jay Marriott’s side have yet to win in the league, suffering defeats at the hands of London Lions, Manchester Giants and champions Newcastle Eagles.

But they produced an encouraging display last weekend against the Eagles and they will be hoping to build on that when they entertain Bristol Flyers at the Pavilions in the cup on Saturday night (7.30pm).

Bristol lost their first four fixtures but they broke their duck last week when they beat London Lions before losing to Newcastle.

The two West Country teams met in last season’s cup and the match went to double over-time before Bristol won 93-92 and they went on to reach the semi-finals.

Raiders guard Daryl Corletto said: “This weekend’s game is going to be another tough one as Bristol have been playing well and have just added another import to their squad.

“I feel our team has come a long way though this week and if we play with the same energy and discipline that we did against Newcastle I feel we will compete every game.

“I’m actually really excited with the group and the guys’ mind-set going forward, I said to the boys that our season starts now.”
