Plymouth Devils face crucial week in play-off race

Devils arenaPLYMOUTH Devils complete their home league fixtures with a match against Scunthorpe at the St Boniface Arena on Thursday evening (7.15pm).

The city side will be looking for a win to keep alive their hopes of overhauling Ipswich to qualify for the end of season play-offs.

The Devils have home and away meetings with Scunthorpe on Thursday and Friday before completing their away fixtures at Rye House on Saturday.

Plymouth co-promoter Ashley Taylor said: “This is going to be a big week with three important meetings on the bounce.”

“We have got to reel in seven points from those three meetings. We really need to make sure of three points from Thursday’s home meeting. Then, whatever happens in the return at Scunthorpe, we will still have four points available at Rye House on Saturday.”

Scunthorpe operate rider replacement for number one Zdenek Holub and have an experienced trio of skipper Theo Pijper, Leigh Lanham and Carl Wilkinson with 17-year-old Dane Andreas Lyager completing their top five.

At reserve are Alex Davies and Nike Lunna, a 19-year-old from Finland.

Plymouth: Ryan Fisher, Morten Risager, Jack Holder, Todd Kurtz, Kyle Newman. Reserves: Sam Simota, Linus Eklof.

Scunthorpe: Rider replacement for Zdenek Holub, Theo Pijper, Andreas Lyager, Carl Wilkinson, Leigh Lanham. Reserves: Alex Davies, Nike Lunna.
