ORGANISERS are hoping the new-look Autumn Trail run at Newnham Park will be a major success.
The Armada Athletics Network have revived the previously popular eight-mile multi-terrain event which was successfully held for 10 years by Frank Elford Sports.
This year’s event, made possible due to kind permission of the Cobbold Family at Newnham Estate, will take place on Sunday, September 27. The entry limit for the race, which involves river crossings, is 800 and organisers would love it to be a sell-out.
Armada Athletics Network chairman Paul Ross said: “The Network clubs were looking for an event that could be held clear of highways and Frank Elford suggested reviving the Autumn Trail. He was keen to see it back in the local race calendar. The Network clubs shared Frank’s enthusiasm and have been planning the event for numerous months.”
Ross added: “We are also indebted to David Cobbald and his family and staff at Newnham Estate for their support for the event. Armada Athletics Network are also delighted to have the support of Sweatshop as sponsors of the event.”
The age limit for the main race is 16 years-old and all finishers will receive a race memento. No entries will be accepted on the day. Closing date for entries is September 24, but the race, which will start at 10.30am, will close early if the 800 limit is reached.
The Armada Network are urging athletes to enter as soon as possible.
