TAVISTOCK Athletic Club’s Dean Smith won both the 800m and 1,500m events at the final Devon Open Series meet of the season at Braunton.
The 19-year-old clocked 2:08.60 minutes to cruise to victory in the 800m before clocking a season’s best 4:27.39 in the 1,500m.
There was further 1,500m success for Tavistock in the women’s competition.
Alice Rogers won the senior women’s race in a time of 4:58.33, while Sarah Bull triumphed in the under-15 girls’ event in a decent time of 5:05.9. Her team-mate Clarissa Nichols came second in 5:08.8.
There was an impressive distance run by Erme Valley’s Ella Isaias in the under-11 girls’ 600m race. Isaias clocked a personal best of 2:00.88 to win by nearly five seconds. She also won the high jump.
In the same age group, Tavistock’s Joe Wheeler triumphed in the 100m and 150m in personal best times of 11.12 seconds and 22.46 seconds.
Plymouth Harriers’ veteran John Porter won the 5,000m in a season’s best of 16.39.36.
