Triathletes ready to descend on Plymouth

triathlonONE of the biggest triathlons in the region takes place on Sunday morning.

The annual Plymouth Triathlon is one of the most popular events on the endurance calendar.

Last year nearly 200 athletes completed the Olympic distance competition, with the junior aquathlon, which runs alongside it, also attracting a good turnout.

Organisers are hoping the 2015 event will be even better.

The competition gets underway on the green in front of the Mountbatten Pub at 7.30am.

Athletes will start with a 1.5km swim around Mountbatten before jumping on their bikes for a 40km course, which will take them out to Modbury. They will then finish with a 10km run around Turnchapel, Jennycliffe and Fort Stamford.

The junior aquathlon will start at 8.25am.

Also taking place on Sunday morning is the popular Six Moor Mile race at Yelverton.

That event, organised by Plymouth Harriers, starts at 10.30am at the Leg O’Mutton Corner on Dartmoor and takes runners on a moorland route around the Maristow Estate.

Entries will be accepted on the day. For more information click HERE
