PLYMOUTH Diving’s Shanice Lobb eased into the women’s platform final at the European Games in Baku.
The 17-year-old finished fifth in the preliminary round with a score of 377.40 points from her eight dives.
Lobb started the competition brilliantly and was averaging more than 7.0 for her opening four dives.
However, she could not quite nail her more difficult fifth, sixth and seventh attempts and dropped a few places before producing a more solid eighth dive.
Her performance, though, will give her confidence going into the final, where she will be joined by Great Britain team-mate Lois Toulson.
The 15-year-old from Hudderfield, who sensationally beat Sarah Barrow and Tonia Couch at the British Championships, finished second in qualifying with 389.20 pointss.
Russian Yulia Timoshinina topped the standings in the preliminary round with 409.60.
