MORE than 700 runners are expected to hit the streets of the South Hams on Saturday evening when Erme Valley Harriers host their annual Ivybridge 10k race.
The event is one of the most popular races in the region and even though this year’s event falls on the same evening as Plymouth Argyle’s play-off match with Wycombe Wanderers at Home Park, more than 730 athletes have already pre-entered.
The maximum number the event can accommodate is 775 and organisers expect the race could reach that point by the cut off on Friday morning.
The race starts at Ivybridge station car park at 6.30pm. The route is considered to be relatively fast, despite a steep hill from Bittaford to Moorhaven.
The course finishes at Ivybridge Rugby Club, where food and drink will be available.
Among the entries for this year’s event is Torbay Athletic Club’s Peter Monaghan (pictured top left), who won the race in 2012 and who was second to Chris Rimmer last year.
