STONEHOUSE Sharks under-15s claimed their second trophy of the season with victory over Okehampton in the Devon Plate final at Barnstaple.

The Sharks, who had already secured the Devon Sevens title, scored three unanswered tries to run out 17-3 winners.

Josh Hellings gave Stonehouse the lead when he went over out wide after good work by full-back Harry Groves.

The Sharks, playing in their third final in three years, should have scored again but good Okes defence kept them out.

Their opponents then cut the gap with an Ebby Vallence penalty and the Sharks then had to show their defensive qualities in the run up to half-time.

However, after the interval, Stonehouse scored a vital second try after lock Adam Brown stole an Okehampton line-out and crashed over. Sharks then added a third courtesy of fly-half Tommy Pullinger after a good turnover by flanker Jimmy Baker and an excellent grubber kick by scrum-half Al Spicer. Ed Nettleship added the conversion.

Okehampton tried to get back into the match but Stonehouse’s defence refused to let them.
