THE track and field season gets underway this weekend when City of Plymouth Athletics Club host their annual Spring Warm-up Meet.

The event takes place at Brickfields on Sunday and will cater for all age groups from under-eights through to seniors. There will also be races for wheelchair and ambulant athletes.

Entry fee is £5 (£3 for under-eights), with the first event beginning at 11am.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday (April 8) the Armada Network 5k Summer Series gets underway.

There are six 5k races throughout the summer at Saltram Park. They will take place the first Wednesday of each month.

They are open to all standard of athletes over the age of 11. Wednesday’s race will start at 7pm but runners must have registered by 6.45pm. Entry fee is £2.50.
