Tom Daley caps successful weekend for GB in Dubai with silver medal

tomD3.jpgTOM DALEY produced an impressive display of diving to win silver medal at the FINA/NVC World Series event in Dubai on Saturday.

Daley’s second place followed on the back of Tonia Couch’s bronze and Jack Laugher’s gold to cap a successful weekend for Great Britain.

The 20-year-old scored a sensational 578.25 points – a new PB – but that still was not good enough for gold, with China’s Qui Bo collecting 612.75.

However, Daley did beat fellow Chinese star Jian Yang, who scored 563.90.

In a high-scoring final all six divers topped 512 points.

Daley managed to produce two ‘perfect’ dives in Dubai.

In his semi-final he scored all 10s on his 207B fifth dive and in the final he managed the same for his third round 407C dive.

Daley had scored 551.15 in his semi-final, finishing behind Yang.

Afterwards his medal performance, Daley tweeted: “Silver medal and a new PB here in Dubai. Very happy right now but may have gone overboard (pardon the pun) with the celebratory cheesecake.”
