Tom Jubb to start Plymouth Albion’s vital match against Yorkshire Carnegie

Jubb

TOM JUBB will make his first league start since mid-November on Saturday when Plymouth Albion taken on Yorkshire Carnegie at Brickfields in a vital Championship match (3pm).

The former Saracens forward, who has missed part of the season through injury, will start at flanker after impressing as a replacement against Worcester Warriors in Albion’s last outing.

Jubb replaces dual-registered flanker Sam Simmonds, who picked up an injury playing for Exeter Chiefs in the LV=Cup last week.

Jubb for Simmonds is one of three changes Albion make to their team that played Worcester a fortnight ago.

The other two changes are also in the pack, with Canadian international lock Brett Beukeboom returning in place of Tom Hicks and player-coach Rhys Oakley coming back in at number eight for Iain Grieve.

Grieve suffered a nasty bang to the head at Sixways and has not recovered to feature against Carnegie, who are better known as Leeds.

Australian Marc Koteczky could make his first appearance for Albion in 2015 after being named among their replacements for Saturday’s game.

Koteczky’s opportunities have been limited since Declan Cusack’s returned to full fitness due to his non-EQP status. However, he has had some game-time on-loan at National Two South side Clifton.

Also on the bench is young prop Dan Pullinger and back-row forward Alistair Bone, who have also found opportunities hard to come by this season.

Albion could move off the foot of the Championship table for the first time this campaign if they were to beat Carnegie.

The Brickfields club go into the match sitting four points behind Moseley, who travel to Nottingham.

Sixth-placed Carnegie, who will have Bryan Redpath in charge for the first time, include former Albion prop James Tideswell in their starting line-up.
