Dual-registered Plymouth Albion winger Josh Watkins earns England Sevens call

albilogo.jpgDUAL-REGISTERED Plymouth Albion winger Josh Watkins has been called up into the England squad for the Hong Kong Sevens.

Watkins, who has made two Championship starts for Albion after arriving at the club on a short-term deal from Worcester Warriors, joins former Plymouth winger Tom Bowen in the England Sevens party for next weekend’s high-profile event.

Watkins’ call-up means he is unavailable for Albion’s match against Yorkshire Carnegie this Saturday and their trip to the Cornish Pirates next Sunday.

England Sevens head coach Simon Amor said: “It is exciting to include Josh Watkins, a young and talented player, who will develop through the opportunity of playing in such an incredible tournament.

“We are continuing to build relationships with professional clubs in England and are very grateful to Worcester Warriors for releasing him and Richard de Carpentier to us.”
