PLYMOUTH Argyle and Marine Academy Plymouth were both beaten away from home on the opening day of the FA Women’s National League season.
The new-look Argyle team lost 4-2 away at Swindon Town in the Southern Premier Division.
They had been 2-1 up at half-time, but the home side came back in the second period to claim the three points.
The Greens got the best possible start in Wiltshire as Shana Dolbel put them 1-0 up after just four minutes.
But Swindon equalised quickly when Taylor MacDonald scored from a free-kick.
However, Argyle continued to press and they went back in front when new captain Ellie Bishop headed in at the far post from a Keisha Walker free-kick.
Swindon, though, upped their game after the interval and Annie Colston pulled them level soon after the restart.
And the hosts secured the points with further goals from Tori St Clair and Izzy Cook.
In FAWNL Division One South West, Marine Academy Plymouth were edged out 2-1 away at Abingdon United.
Kelsey Blight scored their only goal in Oxfordshire, with Mollie Dyer and Molly Lygo scoring for the hosts.
In friendly matches, Saltash United’s first team beat St Agnes 1-0 away, while their new reserve side were edged out 2-1 at home by neighbours Saltash Borough.
Also in Cornwall, Signal Box Frankfort travelled light to Truro City and were beaten 4-0 and Lakeside Athletic went down 3-0 away at Launceston.
Back across the Tamar, Plymouth True Blues overcame newcomers Buckland Athletic 2-0 at Millbay Park thanks to two penalty kicks.
