GALLERY: Tamar Trotters’ Ezra-Ham retains the Totnes 10k title in hot conditions

TAMAR Trotters Bex Ezra-Ham convincingly retained the women’s title at the Totnes 10k on Sunday in sweltering conditions.

Ezra-Ham, the female course record holder, took victory by more than one-and-a-half minutes in the off-road race along the River Dart, which is actually over 11k rather than 10k.

She finished in a gun time of 44.30 minutes, with Windsor & Slough’s Tara Ferguson taking silver in the women’s race for a second successive year.

Third place went to Storm Plymouth’s Lauren Knox, who came home in a gun time of 46.28 minutes, with Exmouth’s Lydia Stimson fourth and her team-mate Catherine Newman fifth.

Exmouth’s Tom Merson, who had previously set the course record in 2022, won the men’s race in a gun time of 38.40 minutes.

Although he was unable to break his own overall record time, he did set a new one for the M40 category.

Last year’s winner James Baker of Chichester, an M45 runner, had to settle for second place this year in 39.01 minutes, with Tamar Trotters’ Oliver Oldfield taking third in a gun time of 40.32 minutes.

Belgrave’s Arthur Peel was fourth and Erme Valley Harriers’ Ronnie Haynes took fifth and second M40, with Plymouth Harriers’ James Cartlidge seventh.

There was age group success for Erme Valley athletes David Engledew (M65), Helen Chapell (F55) and Alison Engledew (F65), who all won their categories.

The race, organised by Teignbridge Trotters, saw 546 finishers. There was also a family fun run before the main race.
