Plymouth Argyle picked up another three points in the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division with a 2-0 home victory over Lewes on Sunday.
In front of nearly 1,000 supporters, Argyle took the lead in the 31st minute when Tamara Wilcock volleyed home after a cross from Olivia Francis.
The Pilgrims had further chances but had to wait until injury-time to bag their second and seal the win, with Layla Proctor heading home from a corner.
The victory keeps Argyle in second place, one point behind leaders Watford, who do have a game in hand.
In National League Division One South West, Marine Academy Plymouth suffered home frustration as they let a 2-0 slip slip to draw 2-2 with Bournemouth Sports, who snatched a point with the last play of the game.
Kelsey Blight had fired Marine Academy ahead with a fine free-kick from the left in the first half.
Samantha Drewery had doubled their lead in the second half from the penalty spot.
But Bournemouth got a penalty of their own in the 77th minute and visiting captain Rosie Eden slotted that home to make it 2-1.
Then deep in injury-time, Kaitlyn Elliott managed to force the ball home for the visitors after a goal-mouth scramble.
Marine are eight points clear of the drop zone and with games in hand.
Saltash United were knocked out of the South West Premier League Cup at the quarter-final stage as they lost 3-1 at home to Poole Town. Olivia Lennox scored their only goal on Sunday.
SB Oak Villa progressed in the Devon League Cup by beating lower league Drake FC 4-1 away on Sunday.
Rachel Finch was Oak Villa’s player of the moment with a hat-trick of goals. Their other came from Kiri Pethick.
In the same competition, Plymouth True Blues narrowly missed out on progressing by going down 3-2 away at Plainmoor.
In the Devon Women’s League Premier Division, Plympton beat Crediton United 3-1 at home thanks to goals from Crystal-Mae Pollock (2) and Daisy Canning.
There were big wins for Elm Fusion and Plymouth Marjon in Devon South & West on Sunday.
Elm Fusion beat Hunter District 9-0 away. Abigail Hyndman netted a hat-trick, with Maisie Lovell and Mia-Mae Lawrence both bagging two and Olivia Shreeves and Lucia Webb were also on the score sheet.
Marjon beat Tavistock 10-0 away. There was a hat-trick for Siana Goddard, two apiece for Samantha Cox and Ellie Pearce and additional goals from Beatriz Almeida, Robyn Hearn and Estelle Hodges.
In the Cornwall Women’s League Premier Division, Saltash Borough drew 3-3 away at Milk Hampton thanks to goals from Charlotte Morrison, Harriet Howell and Abby Shapland.
