WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Argyle score nine against Billericay for the second time this season, while Oak Villa end Plympton’s run

PLYMOUTH Argyle claimed their second 9-0 victory over struggling Billericay Town this season on Sunday in the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division.

In a repeat of the first meeting at Home Park in August, Argyle once again took a 6-0 lead into the break at New Lodge.

They took just 10 minutes to open the scoring in Essex with Olivia Francis bagging their first.

Eleanor Noble then added their second on 19 minutes before Tianna Teisar netted twice within seven minutes to make it 4-0.

Una Lue then added a penalty after she was brought down before she scored again almost straight from the restart.

After the interval, Katie Wilson headed in Argyle’s seventh before Lue completed her hat-trick with a fine right-footed strike.

Francis, who had opened the scoring, then finished it off by netting the Pilgrims’ ninth.

The win has moved Argyle up to second in the table, just two points behind leaders Watford, but third-placed Bournemouth do have the same number of points as the Pilgrims and have played two less games.

Saltash United had a tough afternoon in the South West Premier Division as they were beaten 10-1 away at league leaders Torquay United. Gracie Procter scored the Ashes’ only goal at Coach Road.

Saltash have dropped into the relegation zone on points difference but they do have three games in hand on Frampton Rangers, who sit in eighth spot with the same number of points as them.

In the Devon Women’s League Premier Division, leaders Plympton suffered their first defeat of the season as second-placed SB Oak Villa beat them 3-2 at Manadon on Sunday, in a match where all the goals came in the first half.

Kelsey Blight put Oak Villa ahead when she finished off a fine move, before Mia Dulling made it 2-0 when she pounced on a loose ball in the box.

Sam Metters pulled one back for Plympton before Crystal-Mae Pollock levelled the contest when she capitalised on a mis-placed Oak Villa pass.

But just before the break, Rachel Finch fired in a corner which somehow found it’s way into the net to restore Oak Villa’s lead.

Both teams went at it in the second half and both had good chances, but the woodwork and some good goalkicking prevented any further goals.

In Devon South & West, Elm United just edged out much-improved Tavistock 2-1 in an entertaining game at Tor Bridge High.

Tavistock did create some good chances, especially early on, in a competitive and tightly contested match, but they had to make do with just one goal, which came from Louise McLeod.

In the Cornwall League Premier Division, second-placed Saltash Borough had an afternoon to forget as they were beaten 11-1 away at leaders Sticker.
