GALLERY: Royal Navy women’s development team overcome Plymouth Academicals at Brickfields

THE Royal Navy’s women’s development team proved too strong for a Plymouth Academicals side in the curtain raiser for the Medics Rugby Challenge at Brickfields on Friday night.

The Navy XV ran out 31-0 winners in front of a decent-sized crowd at the home of Plymouth Albion.

The Academical side, made up of students from the University of Plymouth and Plymouth Marjon University, battled hard and had a couple of good moments, but the Navy defended well and overall dominated territory.

Winger Flo Mullet scored two converted first half tries as the Navy led 14-0 at the break.

Fellow winger Sophie West then scored their third try 11 minutes after the interval.

The students did have a bit of pressure after that, but the Navy finished strongly and scored two tries in three minutes towards the end of the match courtesy of Libby Fox and Jasmine Able.
