GALLERY: Dartmoor Velo, Tavistock Wheelers and Plymouth Corinthian riders make their mark at Newnham Park

DARTMOOR Velo, Tavistock Wheelers and Plymouth Corinthian riders made their mark at round four of the South West Cyclo Cross League at Newnham Park on Sunday.

The event, which took place in the top part of the Plympton estate, was hosted by Plymouth Corinthian, who had Travis Bramley and Philip Bray among the leading riders in the senior men’s race.

In wet and miserable conditions, Bramley came fourth overall in a competitive field behind Joe Burke (Shibden CC), Lee Adams (Tavistock Wheelers) and Tristan Davies. Bray was sixth overall and first M40.

The junior men’s race was won by Wheal Velocity’s Oliver Riches, who finished more than three minutes in front of Chard’s William Birchall, with Mid-Devon’s Sam Gray third.

Bridgwater’s Lucy Driver was first woman home overall and first F40, with Tamsin Miller second overall and Mid-Devon’s F60 rider Catherine Kilburn third overall and first in her age group.

Dartmoor Velo impressed in the junior age events.

Aiofe Scawn won the under-16 girls’ race, with Mid-Devon’s James Allen claiming victory in the corresponding boys’ event.

There was a Dartmoor Velo one-two in the under-14 boys’ category, with Samuel Medland winning and Charlie Day taking second.

Fellow Dartmoor rider Bryony Medland won the girls’ race in the same age group.

Club colleague Indie Skinner won the under-12 girls’ race, with fellow Dartmoor competitor Rosie Eastmond second.

The boys’ under-12 victory went to Brody Harris.
