PLYMOUTH Argyle easily topped their group in the FA Women’s National League Cup by beating lower league side Bristol Rovers 6-0 away on Sunday.
The Pilgrims finished with a 100 per cent record in their four-team group, which also featured Bridgwater United and Marine Academy Plymouth.
The Greens did the damage in the second half on Sunday, scoring five of their six goals.
Katie Wilson had fired them ahead in the 36th minute with a strike from a free-kick.
And Argyle took just three minutes of the second period to double their lead when a Katie Dickson effort was deflected into the net.
Tianna Teisar then added their third five minutes later after a Phoebie Poole penalty had hit the post.
Club captain Giota Papaioannou then bagged their fourth goal when she headed in a Charlotte Whitmore delivery.
Argyle’s final two goals came from Olivia Frances, who scored in the 82nd minute and in the first minute of added-on time.
Marine Academy Plymouth ended with a third straight defeat in the League Cup as they went down 3-1 away at league rivals Bridgwater United.
Lucy Solloway scored their only goal in Somerset, while Zoe Watkins, Aimee Kingdon and Camryn Lines scored for Bridgwater.
Saltash United are finally off the mark in the South West Women’s League Premier Division as they beat Bishops Lydeard 6-2 at home on Sunday.
The win has moved the Ashes out of the relegation zone and up to eighth in the early league standings.
Shania Fenlon netted twice for Saltash, who also had Nicola Champion, Lucy Jones, Gracie Procter and Morgan Friend scoring.
SB Oak Villa continued their good start to life in the Devon Premier Division by beating Honiton Town 9-0 at Manadon on Sunday.
Amy Pridham netted four of Oak Villa’s goals, with Mia Dulling, Rachel Finch, Saskia Brisley and Natalie Shekhdar also on target.
In the Devon South & West Division, Horrabridge Rangers had to dig deep to keep their 100 per cent record going as they beat Plainmoor 2-1 at Fillace Park.
Freya Veevers and Toni Allen scored first half goals for them as they led 2-0, but Plainmoor pulled one back in the second half and then threw everything at Horrabridge in the closing stages. However, the home side’s defence held firm to record a third straight victory.
Drake FC and Hunter District played out an 11-goal thriller on Sunday, with Drake eventually winning 7-4.
Erin Rumble and Molly Yeatman both scored twice for Drake, who also had Amy Neale and Aimee Sharples netting, while Mollie Dring scored all four of Hunter’s goals.
Iola Hewings scored both of Elm Fusion’s goals as they beat Plymouth True Blues 2-1. Lily Daw scored True Blues’ reply.
In the other game in that division, Elm United beat Tavistock 6-1 away. Louise McLeod scored Tavistock’s only goal from the penalty spot.
In the Cornwall Women’s League Division One, Saltash Borough were beaten 7-1 at home by Sticker. Molly Gill scored Borough’s only goal.
