GALLERY: Pictures from the third Soggy Bottom XC Series race at Newnham Park

THE third round of the Soggy Bottom XC Series took place in perfect conditions at Newnham Park on Sunday.

Riders from all over the South West took part in the mountain bike event, with Luke Eggar leading the way and taking the men’s ‘elite’ class victory.

Corey Bale was first in the ‘expert’ category, with Sam Nancarrow the men’s ‘sport’ class victory.

Veterans Matt Loake, John Russell, Nick Percival and Chris Day also claimed category wins in the male section.

Libby Harman was the women’s ‘elite’ winner, with Clare Sharp claiming victory in the ‘expert’ class, while Heidi Gould, Miriam Whitehurst and Catherine Kilburn were age group winners.

Dartmouth Darts’ Aoife Scawn was first female 15-16, while Willow Peters was the 13-14 age group winner.

James Allen was successful in the boys’ 13-14 age group race, finishing ahead of Sam Medland, while Oliver Williams took victory in the 15-16 years’ category.

Before the main race, there were under-12, under-10 and under-eight events. Henry Christie, India Skinner, Charlie Robinson, Bryony Medland, Alfie Peek and Daisy Adams were all winners.
