The tough seven-mile run that takes competitors from Saltash Rugby Club out on country roads to Elmgate and back around via Forder Lake was won by Cornwall AC’s Joshua Rowe in a gun-time of 37.41 minutes (chip time, 37.40).
He was one of three Cornwall AC athletes in the top five of the event which is part of the Cornwall Grand Prix Series.
Hayle’s Emma Paull was first woman home in a gun-time of 46.56 minutes (chip time, 46.54).
Second woman to finish was nine-times previous winner and course record holder Emma Stepto of Cornwall AC, who was also first F50. She clocked 50.26 (50.24) minutes.
Tamar Trotters’ Alexia Zilli was sixth woman home and first F40. Plymouth Musketeers’ Sarah Robinson was first F45, East Cornwall Harriers’ Revis Crowle, who won when the race was first run in 1999 and is a six-times previous winner, claimed the F60 title for a second year running, while Tavistock’s Kate Rogers was first F65.
Some 277 runners completed the main run, while there was also a junior fun run beforehand, which was won by City of Plymouth’s Jack Penney.
It was a busy day for sport in the area with the Tamar 10k and the Plymouth Triathlon at Mount Edgcumbe also taking place on Sunday morning.
