GALLERY: Athletes impress in tough conditions at season-opener at Brickfields

THERE were some encouraging early season performances as City of Plymouth AC hosted their opening track and field meeting of the year on Sunday at Brickfields.

Their Spring Warm-Up Open was hampered a bit by strong winds, but a number of athletes appeared to enjoy the tough conditions.

City of Plymouth youngster Bryan Oldfield was lucky enough to get a legal wind for his under-15 100m event and he smashed his personal best with a 11.71 second run, which was the first time he had gone under 12 seconds and it also puts him third in the early UK rankings.

David Oldfield also set a PB in the under-17 boys’ 100m with a time of 11.43 seconds.

Team-mate Annabelle Fasuba was unfortunate her under-15 girls’ 100m run was wind-assisted as her winning time of 12.71 seconds would have put her in the UK’s top three.

However, she did get a legal run in the 200m and clocked an impressive 25.83 seconds, which does put her in the top 10 of that age group.

Bryan Oldfield also won the under-15 boys’ 200m but his time of 24.10 second was wind-assisted.

Lamara Hammoudeh also claimed a sprint double. Her wins came in the under-13 age group, where she clocked a wind-assisted 14.3 for the 100m and 21.62 seconds for the 150m. She also won the long jump.

City of Plymouth’s Brook Adnitt (11.86) and Tara Green (13.12) won the senior/U20 men’s and women’s 100m.

Team-mate Poppy Northcott, who has also just moved up to under-20 level, clocked 26.50 seconds for the 200m and 61.46 seconds on her debut over the 400m.
