WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Argyle reach Devon Cup final, plus league wins for Plympton, Hunters and Elm United

PLYMOUTH Argyle have reached the Devon Women’s Premier Cup final again after they beat Torquay United 4-0 at Coach Road on Sunday.

The Pilgrims will once again face their old rivals Exeter City in the showpiece event in April, after the Grecians were handed a walkover by Marine Academy Plymouth.

Argyle scored two goals in each half against Torquay at the weekend.

Ellie Sara fired them ahead in the opening five minutes of the semi-final following a free-kick from Taya Pomfret.

And 10 minutes later the Pilgrims doubled their lead when a Sara shot deflected off Fern Orchard into the net.

Argyle continued to have chances, but they could not add to their advantage in the first half.

They actually had to wait until the final five minutes of the game to add their other two goals.

England under-17 international Mia Endacott claimed their third with a great shot from outside the area and a minute from time former England senior international Jemma Rose lobbed a volley into the net.

In the Cornwall County Cup, Saltash United were beaten 2-1 away by Helston on Sunday.

The tie was 1-1 at half-time, with Maisie Williams scoring a fine free-kick for the Ashes and Bethany Prouse netting for Helston. Prouse then won the game after the interval with her second goal of the afternoon.

Saltash Borough did make it to the semi-finals after they beat Redruth United 5-1 at home.

Molly Gill netted twice for Borough, with Louise Dark, Stacey Gill and Mel McGregor also on target.

Liskeard Athletic’s tie away at St Dennis was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

In the Devon Women’s League Premier Division, leaders Plympton claimed a convincing 7-1 away win against Crediton.

Sam Metters and Izzy Rogers both scored twice for Plympton, with Elsa Finnegan, Bella Brown-Tunnell and Dionne Igalawuye also netting.

In the Devon South & West Division, Hunters District claimed their first league win as they overcame fellow strugglers Tavistock 6-0 at Devonport High School for Boys.

Eleanor Cranch bagged a hat-trick, with Chloe Thompson scoring twice and Channon Hodge also on target for Hunters.

In the same division, Elm United claimed a 4-0 win over Signal Box at Manadon.
