Home club athlete Joe Wheeler came agonisingly close to running under 11 seconds for the 100m for the first time.
The first-year under-20 runner, better known for his exploits over 300m and 400m, clocked a PB of 11.1 seconds for the shortest outdoor sprint event, which ranks him in the top 30 nationally. He also ran 23.2 in the 200m, which was just 0.1 of a second outside his PB.
City of Plymouth’s Jacob Michaelides came second in the under-20 100m race in 11.5 seconds, with Tavistock’s James Wheeler third in 11.9.
In the U13 girls’ 100m, Tavistock’s Nell Maguire clocked a PB of 14.3 seconds. She also ran a PB in the 800m of 2:38.2.
In the U13 boys’ 200m, Tavistock’s Ruben Ganfield ran 26.8 seconds to take victory. He also won the long jump with a PB of 4.58m.
Team-mate Charlotte Doney was the fastest under-15 girl over 200m in a PB time of 28.7 seconds.
In the 800m, Tavistock’s Josh Blake produced an impressive solo run to win in 2:00.3.
Tavistock’s Charlotte Walker, who was fastest female in the 800m, was second in the U17 discus with 24.07m.
In the javelin, City of Plymouth’s Jacob Clark set a new PB to win the U17 event with a throw of 35.15m, while
There was a good battle between Tavistock’s Evie Palmer and Plymouth’s Evie Bee in the U15 girls’ javelin. Palmer took first with a throw of 24.93m, with Bee second with 23.26m.
