Competing at the opening national ranking event of the year on Sunday, Pillage won the under-19 boys’ category and Bryson took second in the girls’ competition.
Pillage led throughout the competition, having set the pace with a storming swim of 1:59.51. He finished with a score of 1143 to hold off the challenge of Harry Sykes.
The under-19 girls’ event was much closer with just 51 points separating the top three. Bryson, who finished 11th at last year’s World Youth A Championship in Argentina, took second with 1013 points behind Olivia Green with 1051. Bryson impressed in the fencing and combined event but lost ground in the swim.
