Hurdler King back at his former school to try and get Plymouth fit

PLYMOUTH’S Great Britain international hurdler David King was back in his home city on Tuesday night to launch a new fitness class.

Olympic hopeful King, who trains in Bath, has teamed up with his City of Plymouth AC team-mate and sports science specialist Alex Beechey to form PlymFit.

PlymFit are offering fitness classes at King’s former school, Devonport High, to over-25s and under-25s.

The duo were pleased with how their first session went.

“I think it was a big success,” said Bath University graduate King, who came fourth in the 110m hurdles at the European Under-23 Championships in the summer.

“Everyone joined in and, hopefully, everyone liked it. We’ll work off the feedback for future sessions but it seemed really positive.

“It was really, really pleasing for a first session.”

Sprinter Beechey added: “It was just about getting the ball rolling. I think now things will happen through word of mouth.”
