THERE was plenty of success for athletes from the region at the South West Championships and Inter-Counties event at Exeter on Sunday.

Tavistock AC’s Tegan Brown capped a dream weekend by setting a new championship record on her way to winning the under-17 girls’ 3k hammer event for Devon, just 24 hours after claiming a PB and a silver medal on her England debut.

Brown took victory in a high-quality competition at Exeter with a throw of 56.65m, which until the day before, when she threw 57.49m at the SIAB International in Derby, would have been a PB by more than a metre.

Her Tavistock AC team-mate Hazel Stead did set a new PB of 49.46m to win the silver medal for Devon at Exeter, with fellow club colleagues Charlotte Doney and Isabelle Doney both also setting new bests of 42.84m and 42.02m to finish third and fourth, respectively, for Cornwall.

There was also hammer throw victories for fellow Tavistock AC and Devon athletes Phoebe Milburn, Owen Fileman and Josh Tyler.
