Sprint and throws records broken at Devon Schools’ Track & Field Championships

PHOEBE Milburn, Hazel Stead, Annabelle Fasuba and Bryan Oldfield were among the athletes to set new records at the Devon Schools’ Track & Field Championships at Exeter on Saturday.

Milburn and Stead’s both came in hammer events, while Fasuba and Oldfield’s were in the sprints.

English Schools’ medallist Milburn (Tavistock College) won the senior girls’ hammer competition with PB throw of 50.18m.

Fellow Tavistock College student Stead took victory in the junior girls’ event and broke a record previously held by Milburn. Stead threw 46.95m on her way to victory. She also won the junior girls’ discus with 24.15m.

The throwing events, as usual, were strong on Saturday.

Last year’s English Schools’ junior girls’ hammer champion Tegan Brown (Tavistock College) eased to victory in the intermediate event on Saturday with a big throw of 48.44m. She was also second in the discus behind Tavistock team-mate Orla White, who won with 27.55m.
