ATHLETICS: Tank picks up another team medal for Great Britain at the European Cross Country Championships

CITY of Plymouth’s Poppy Tank picked up another medal representing Great Britain at the European Cross Country Championships in Turkey on Sunday.

Tank was part of the senior women’s side that claimed the silver medal in the team event in Antalya.

The GB women packed well, with all six of them finishing within 27 places of each other and separated by just 52 seconds over the 7.5k course.

Kate Axford was the top British finisher in 10th place, with Tank crossing the line in the main pack in 26th spot.

The course and conditions in Turkey were completely different to those at the British trials in Liverpool last month.

It was the fifth team medal Tank has picked up representing Great Britain at the European Cross Country Championships.

Devon’s Innes Fitzgerald successfully defended her European under-20 crown at the event in Antalya.

Meanwhile, City of Plymouth’s Emily Bee made a good start to her indoor season by setting a new long jump PB in America.

Bee, competing for Youngstown University, leaped 5.82m to take second place in the YSU Icebreaker meeting.

Also indoors, Erme Valley Harriers’ Isabella Trowell won the under-17 girls’ South West Indoor Championships triple jump title in Cardiff with a leap of 10.56m.
