CITY of Plymouth hurdler David King produced his second fastest run of the year to claim an impressive third place finish at the Diamond League meeting in Doha on Friday.
British champion King clocked 13.54 seconds to finish behind American Aaron Mallet and Switzerland’s Jason Joseph in the 110m hurdles final.
King’s time was just 0.03 of a second off his season’s best of 13.51 which he achieved at the World Athletics Continental Tour meeting in Hungary in mid-August.
Teenager Smart took overall victory overall with an impressive time of 8:39.4. That was seven seconds faster than he had previously run for the distance and ranks him 18th overall in the under-20 age group and third fastest first year in that category.
Under-15 athlete Hutchings ran nearly eight seconds faster than he had run the week before at Yeovil, clocking 9:27.8. That ranks him eighth in the UK at under-15 level and he is the fastest first year in that age group by 28 seconds.
Plymouth Harriers’ John Porter was fifth in race two in Par, finishing in 10:02.4.
