PLYMOUTH Leander’s Laura Stephens claimed a second title at the British Summer Swimming Championships in Sheffield on Thursday evening.

Having already won gold in the 400m IM on Tuesday evening and secured two bronze medals on Wednesday in the 100m backstroke and 50m butterfly, Stephens triumphed in the women’s 200m butterfly on the third day of the championships.

She clocked a quick time of 2:10.37 to finish nearly two seconds ahead of Sheffield’s Isobel Grant in second.

Devonport Royal claimed their first medal of the championships on Thursday with Aiden Symons-Brown winning bronze in the 13/14 year-old boys’ 100m freestyle. He clocked 54.36 seconds to secure his podium place.

There was a silver medal for Mount Kelly’s Macy Lawrence in the 16 year-old girls’ 50m freestyle with a time of 26.25 seconds. Mount Kelly also won a bronze medal in the 14/18 girls’ 4x200m replay.

Plymouth Leander’s Reid Jones and Honey Osrin also claimed bronze medals on Thursday.

Jones’ came in the 16 years’ 100m freestyle with a 52.03 second swim.

Meanwhile, Osrin, who had won a gold medal on Wednesday in the 100m backstroke, made the podium again in the 50m freestyle. She clocked a time of 26.71 seconds.

Mount Kelly’s Sam Dailley just missed out picking up a medal in the 17/18 years’ 100m freestyle by finishing fourth.

There were also final appearances on Thursday for Mount Kelly’s Douglas Kelly and Lily Macleod and Leander’s Victoria Adams.
