Henry Slade
PLYMOUTH’S Henry Slade described his England debut as ‘awesome’.
Slade played an important part in England’s 19-14 win over France at Twickenham.
The former Plymouth College pupil, who came through Ivybridge’s junior ranks and spent two seasons at Albion, was involved in the build-up to all England’s tries.
The 22-year-old Exeter Chiefs player received a great ovation when he was replaced in the second half and afterwards he said: “It was awesome – a great experience.
“I have been dreaming about this (playing for England) for a long, long time and it’s amazing for it to finally come true.
“It was a great experience and I really enjoyed it.”
Slade certainly did his World Cup hopes no harm. He has definitely made it hard for head coach Stuart Lancaster to leave him out of the 31-man squad. To cap a good night he was also voted England fans’ man of the match.
